How do I set up email delivery service?

For transactional emails, you can either use MageMail's native service or your own Email Service Provider (ESP). Many of our customers use MageMail for ease of use*.

We currently support Sendgrid, Mailgun, and Mandrill if you'd like to use your own ESP account. The reason that we do not support other ESPs at this time is either due to a lack of market demand or because the service does not support detailed email tracking and analytics via webhooks. The latter - detailed analytics - is one of the key benefits you gain from MageMail, so this has become a blocker for use of some ESPs, including Magento's native service and Amazon SES.

Configuring Your Account to use MageMail's Native Service

  1. Select Sendgrid as the delivery service
  2. Leave the API key field blank
  3. Click Save Settings
  4. Click Test Delivery Service to ensure that you are connected
  5. Recommended step: Send yourself a test email via the Email Editor
  6. Your account will now use MageMail's native service*

Configuring Your Account to use Your ESP

  1. Select Mandrill, Sendgrid, or Mailgun
  2. Enter your ESP API Key and any other required account credentials.
  3. Click Save Settings
  4. Click Test Delivery Service to ensure that you are connected
  5. Recommended step: Send yourself a test email via the Email Editor
  6. Your account will now use your ESP

*Note: Our underlying delivery service is provided by Sendgrid.
